CTM150/CTM170 Overview

CTM150 and CTM170 OEM Terminals

Description

The CTM150 and CTM170 offer a 24-key numeric keyboard with six host programmable functions keys for easy operator input. The silicon rubber keys provide environmental sealing with tactile feedback and both key click and key repeat functions. Designed for either recess of panel mounting, the terminal is enclosed in a compact rugged case, making it an ideal choice for applications where space is at a premium. The case is available in beige or gray color. In addition, because the keyboard and display are sealed in the ABS plastic case, it functions well even in dirty, high-dust industrial environments.

Display

The CTM150 and CTM170 provide a large easy-to-read 16 character LCD. This high contrast display is ideal in most panel mount applications. An 80 character display buffer is also accessible by simply scrolling the 16 character window.

Communications

The CTM150 offers a TTL level RS232 communications and three baud rates (300, 1200, 9600). It offers both block and character mode operations.

The CTM170 offers RS422 communications with the same baud rate selections and block-or-character mode operations as with the CTM150.  In addition, because RS-422 is designed to allow multi-drop (bus type) topologies, CTM170 terminals in block mode can be configured with an address and multi-dropped from a single RS-422 network.

Mounting Options

TMA022 mounting clips offer recess mounting through panel cutouts on a wall or other flat surface.

Operation Mode

Three modes are available. The modes are as follows:

  • Setup mode allows the maintenance personnel to establish the terminal operating parameters interactively from the keyboard. Prompts guide the operator through the selection of baud rate, protocol, and other parameters.
  • Character mode operation is similar to that of a standard CRT. In this mode all entered characters are immediately sent to the host computer; the user selects whether the characters are displayed locally before transmission. The host computer has full control of screen format and of the location of the visible display window. The window and cursor can be scrolled in four directions using relative cursor positioning characters.
  • In Block mode, terminated blocks of data are transmitted and received by the terminal, allowing operators to compose and correct messages before sending them to the host system.

Standard Commands

The standard commands are as follows:

  • e - Echo message from host
  • o - Clear output buffer
  • p - Poll terminal for output
  • r - Retransmit last data
  • t - Set turnaround delay
  • h - Control digital outputs
  • k - Set keyboard parameters
  • m - Define function message
  • d - Set display characteristics
  • f - Set display format
  • i - Insert function message in output stream
  • b - Backup parameters in nonvolatile EEPROM
  • c - Configuration request

Command Set

The programmer is given a powerful set of command or Escape sequences with which to control terminal operation. With the exception of communication-related functions, options selected from the keyboard in Setup mode may also be changed by the host computer.
