November 1, 2005. Tucson, Arizona. Intelligent Instrumentation announces new Quadrature Decoder Module for EDAS®CE Ethernet I/O systems. The New Quadrature Decoder Module for EDAS CE, (part# EDAS-2015M-1), allows monitoring of high speed incremental shaft encoders popular for tracking position in motion and robotics applications. Each module is capable of monitoring signals from two standard encoders at a maximum rate of 500 kHz. All functions of the module are built-in, including conditioning for up to 24V signals, popular in most industrial environments, as well as input to output isolation.
Each Quadrature Decoder Module is capable of handling signals from 2 standard encoders at a maximum rate of 500 kHz. Monitoring of up to twenty-four (24) axes is possible through adding
additional Quadrature modules to the EDAS CE base unit. Each encoder has two input signals, one for each of the two phases of the encoder. For applications that require generic up and down counting, the module can be optionally configured with software to provide one count input and one direction input for each channel. Each channel can be operated either for quadrature or up/down-counter operation.
Each channel also has four digital inputs and two digital outputs that provide 500 kHz counter control and status. These digital I/O channels may also be configured as general-purpose digital I/O channels. The EDAS?2015M-1 is ideally suited for applications that require a mixture of input and output signal types such as temperature control and conveyor speed and position found in food processing or other fabrication facilities.
EDAS CE provides from 8 to 192 channels of isolated analog and digital I/O, relay output, triac output and RS -232 data packaged in an industrial modular case, with built-in 10/100BaseT Ethernet, and a CPU base unit running the Windows CE embedded operating system. With EDAS CE, stand-alone, networked and distributed test, measurement, monitoring and control applications can be implemented using Microsoft's free eMbeddedä Visual Tools. These tools allow users to write, download and debug applications for the EDAS CE using the popular eMbedded Visual C++ and eMbedded Visual Basic programming languages. The built-in networking, including a TCP/IP stack and support of networking standards including TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, DHCP, SQL and time synchronization allows applications running on EDAS CE to communicate with other computers and other EDAS CE units on your network as part of a plant-wide control and monitoring solution. The EDAS CE can support up to 512MB of non-volatile storage allowing it to be used in stand-alone data logging, data acquisition systems, or to continue operating and logging data in the event of a network disruption.
The EDAS CE Quadrature Decoder Module is in stock and available for delivery.
