A Novel Approach to Inspiration

At Instrument, we've been exploring the potential of generative AI to assist in ideation and beyond. The latest prototype we’ve developed aims to bridge the gap between abstract concepts and tangible inspiration, harnessing AI’s capabilities to transform simple visual inputs into a wealth of novel ideas and imaginative concepts for us to use.

AI's Creative Potential

The prototype allows users to create a simple moodboard consisting of an emoji, an abstract image, and a color palette. Our AI system then analyzes the moodboard and generates a range of outputs, including destination ideas, decor concepts, and other relevant suggestions. These outputs are presented in both text and generated images, providing an experience that feels multi-faceted and imaginative.

Curious about what’s under the hood? Our prototype leverages the power of state-of-the-art AI models like Google’s Gemini Pro and Leonardo.AI's image generation capabilities. Gemini Pro's multi-modal capabilities allow it to visually interpret the user's inputs and transform them into rich descriptions, while Leonardo.AI’s models bring these descriptions to life through stunning visuals.

One of the most fascinating (and honestly, one of our favorite) aspects of working with generative AI is the inherent unpredictability of the results. As we developed our prototype, we continuously found ourselves surprised and delighted by AI's ability to connect seemingly disparate visual elements in unexpected ways.

Rather than shying away from unpredictability, we embraced it as a core feature of our prototype. By allowing users to regenerate outputs, we aimed to foster a mindset of exploration and discovery, encouraging them to embrace the surprises that AI-generated content often brings.
